Election - St Nicholas Ward, Thursday, February 19, 2026 

  • Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 3 February 2026.  Applications can be made online www.gov.uk/registertovote
  • Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
  • Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Wednesday 11 February 2026. 
  • Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU by 5pm on Thursday 19 February 2026. 

Welcome

Community Councils are the first tier of governance and are the first point of contact for anyone concerned with a community issue. We are a democratically elected local authority, representing the concerns of local residents and providing services to meet local needs. We have a wide range of powers and we can be involved with planning, the provision of community facilities, allotments, etc. We raise money through a precept on Council Tax.

In order to comply with new legislation intended to enable everyone to access all online information produced by public bodies, the St Nicholas with Bonvilston Community Council is in the process of creating a new website that will be fully compliant.  The needs of those with a range of disAbilities will be considered in the creation of the new website, and documents published electronically.  Content will be designed to be as readable as possible for those with partial sight, dyslexia, colour blindness or reliant of screen readers.  Navigation will consider the needs of those unable to use a mouse, trackpad or trackball.

Environment Wales Act

The Welsh Government Act of 2016 makes it statutory for Community Council's to produce a report every three years on its work to protect and enhance biodiversity/the local environment.  You will find our December 2019 report published on this website.
