Neighbourhood Watch
Footway obstruction
The owners of properties must keep the full width of footways free from obstruction by vegetation, to a height of at least 2.3m, at all times. Full details can be found on our dedicated footways page.
Footpaths
We have produced a page of guidance for landowners and users of footpaths. This includes restrictions on ploughing, and responsibilities to ensure public rights of way are not obstructed.
Assisted Collections
Residents who are unable to carry their recycling containers and sacks to the road side may apply to the Vale of Glamorgan Council for Assisted Collections - where the operatives collect from an accessible location by the doors of homes.
Employing Reputable Trades People
We have produced a webpage on How to Hire Reputable Tradespeople. We do have rogue traders working within our community.
Many people are unsure of the quality of work to expect, and so rogue traders often get more work from the neighbours of those they are working for. We do not recommend reviews of tradespeople on websites, as few people are prepared to leave a negative review of an intimidating rogue trader.

Community Speed Watch
Community Speed Watch is an educational scheme to help people reduce speeding traffic though their community. The scheme enables volunteers to work within their community to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and to help control the problem locally.
Community Speed Watch incorporates poster campaigns and a pledge system linked to direct action using speed detection equipment all under the supervision of the County Council. The use of the radar devices will not lead to prosecution – drivers will get a letter from the police instead – but will help to underline the community’s commitment to reducing speed.
To join Community Speed Watch in St Nicholas or Bonvilston, please visit our Community Speed Watch Webpage.
